Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) and their Impact on Marine Resources
This sub-project was operated since 2018 through a scientific cooperation between the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Thailand, and Second Institute of Oceanography (SIO), State Oceanic Administration (SOA), People's Republic of China.
Objective
- To investigate situations of Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) in Thailand.
- To assess impacts of HABs on marine resources.
Expected benefits
- Educational techniques and knowledge on biotoxin-producing phytoplankton.
- Improved capacity of the officers of the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources on biotoxin-producing phytoplankton.
- Strengthened collaboration in conducting HABs research between Thailand and the People's Republic of China.
