Marine Integrated Management Applications of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle

     The project was undertaken since 2018, as a partnership between the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Thailand, and the National Ocean Technology Center (NOTC), State Oceanic Administration (SOA), People's Republic of China. The project was initiated to apply Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for establishing a database of the coastal resources, especially seagrass.

Objective

  • To employ Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) as support data for the integrated marine and coastal management.

Expected benefits

  • Monitoring system for the boundaries of important seagrass areas along the Andaman coastline.
  • Increased capacity of the officers of the Department of Marine Resources on the marine and coastal resource areas surveying.
  • Available data to support the integrated management of marine resources in Thailand.
