Welcomes Delegation from China's First Institute of Oceanography to Review Progress of Thailand–China Marine Science Cooperation

On 19 June 2026, Dr. Pinsak Suraswadi, Director-General of the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR), together with Mr. Ukkrit Satapoomin, Deputy Director-General of DMCR; Ms. Suree Satapoomin, Expert in Marine and Coastal Resources Management; Ms. Sumana Khajornwattanakul, Director of the Marine and Coastal Resources Research and Development Institute; as well as DMCR executives and officials, welcomed Dr. Zexun Wei, Director of the First Institute of Oceanography (FIO), Ministry of Natural Resources of the People's Republic of China, and his delegation at Lumpan Meeting Room, 9th Floor, DMCR Headquarters.

During the meeting, both parties reviewed the progress of preparations for the 9th China–Southeast Asian Countries Marine Cooperation Forum (CSEA Forum) and received updates on the implementation of Thailand–China cooperation in marine and coastal resources under the bilateral cooperation framework. The collaboration encompasses marine scientific research, marine and coastal conservation and restoration, capacity development, as well as the exchange of knowledge and marine science and technology.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on future directions for cooperation, with the shared objective of strengthening the sustainable management of marine and coastal resources and further enhancing practical collaboration in marine science between Thailand and the People's Republic of China for mutual benefit.
