Organized the 9th China–Southeast Asian Countries Marine Cooperation Forum
During 24–25 September 2026, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), through the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR), in collaboration with the Ministry of Natural Resources of the People’s Republic of China, organized a series of meetings on marine science and technology and regional cooperation, including the 9th China–Southeast Asian Countries Marine Cooperation Forum. Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, assigned Ms. Darika Saranket, Advisor to the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, to preside over the opening ceremony together with Dr. Sun Shuxian, Vice Minister of Natural Resources of the People’s Republic of China, and Dr. Pinsak Suraswadi, Director-General of DMCR. The event brought together more than 200 representatives and researchers from China and Southeast Asian countries at The Bazaar Hotel Bangkok, Thailand.The event built upon the long-standing Thailand–China cooperation in marine science and technology, extending bilateral collaboration toward broader regional cooperation. Participants exchanged scientific knowledge, research findings, and experiences in ocean monitoring and observation, climate change, coastal zone management, ecosystem and biodiversity conservation, marine pollution management, and sustainable blue economy development.The event comprised the 15th Thailand–China Joint Workshop on Marine Science and Technology Collaboration (JW-15), the 14th Steering Committee Meeting of the Thailand–China Joint Laboratory for Climate and Marine Ecosystem (SCM-14), and the 9th China–Southeast Asian Countries Marine Cooperation Forum. These meetings provided platforms for exchanging knowledge and identifying future directions for regional cooperation in marine and coastal resources.DMCR places strong emphasis on strengthening international cooperation in marine science and technology, particularly through the advancement of marine monitoring and observation systems, the development of scientific technologies and instruments, the exchange of scientific knowledge, and capacity building for researchers. These efforts contribute to the conservation and sustainable use of marine and coastal resources.
Organized the 14th Steering Committee Meeting of the Thailand–China Joint Laboratory for Climate and Marine Ecosystem (SCM-14)
On 23 September 2026, the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR), Thailand, and the First Institute of Oceanography (FIO), People’s Republic of China, jointly hosted the 14th Steering Committee Meeting of the Thailand–China Joint Laboratory for Climate and Marine Ecosystem (SCM-14). Ms. Sumana Khajornwattana, Director of the Marine and Coastal Resources Research and Development Institute, served as the Thai co-chair, while Professor QIAO Fangli, Deputy Director-General of the First Institute of Oceanography (FIO), Ministry of Natural Resources, People’s Republic of China, served as the Chinese co-chair.The meeting reflected the strong partnership and shared vision of Thailand and China in conserving, restoring, and sustainably managing marine and coastal resources. The meeting acknowledged and commended the successful implementation of 10 joint research projects under the Thailand–China cooperation framework, which have contributed valuable scientific knowledge to addressing emerging challenges facing the marine environment. The meeting also considered and advanced four new research proposals aimed at addressing contemporary environmental issues.In addition, the meeting emphasized continued exchanges of scientific knowledge and technology between the two countries and provided a platform for discussions on strengthening the research capacity of scientists from both Thailand and China, further advancing their long-standing cooperation in marine science and technology.
Organized the 15th Thailand-China Joint Workshop on Marine Science and Technology Collaboration (JW-15)
On 22–23 September 2026, the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR), in collaboration with the Ministry of Natural Resources of the People’s Republic of China, organized the 15th Thailand–China Joint Workshop on Marine Science and Technology Collaboration (JW-15) at The Bazaar Hotel Bangkok, Thailand. Mr. Ukkrit Satapoomin, Deputy Director-General of DMCR; Ms. Sumana Khajornwattana, Director of the Marine and Coastal Resources Research and Development Institute; and Professor QIAO Fangli of the First Institute of Oceanography (FIO), Ministry of Natural Resources, People’s Republic of China, served as co-chairs of the workshop. The event brought together 158 participants and featured 33 oral presentations and 40 poster presentations.The workshop served as an important platform for exchanging knowledge, research findings, and advances in marine science and technology, while further strengthening and expanding academic cooperation between Thailand and the People’s Republic of China. At the conclusion of the workshop, key findings were summarized and highlighted, and recommendations were formulated based on the scientific discussions and exchanges. These outcomes will be presented for further consideration at the 14th Meeting of the Steering Committee of the Thailand–China Joint Laboratory.
Partcipating in the 14th China-Thailand Joint Workshop on Ocean Science and Technology Cooperation
On September 10–11, 2025, Mr. Ukrit Sataphumin, the Deputy Director-General of the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR), Mrs. Sumana Khajornwatanaqul, Director of the Marine and Coastal Resources Research and Development Institute, and Mrs. Suree Sataphumin, an expert specializing in Marine and Coastal Resources Management, led the delegation, which included officials from the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources and the Department of Mineral Resources to participate in The 14th China-Thailand Joint Workshop on Ocean Science and Technology Cooperation, hosted by the First Institute of Oceanography (FIO), Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR), in Nanning City, P.R. China. The workshop aimed to serve as a platform for presenting research progress and exchanging marine information between Thailand and China. The meeting saw an attendance of over 60 participants, a total of 37 interested individuals engaging in discussions and Q&A sessions, and 21 poster presentations covered three main themes (1) Ocean, Climate, and Environment (2) Biodiversity, Ecosystem, and Marine Biotechnology and (3) Geology and Spatial Planning for Marine Resource Utilization.
Training Workshop on Species Distribution Model for Endangered Species
On August 25 – 28, 2025, Marine and Coastal Resources Research Center (Central Gulf of Thailand) in collabolation with the First Institute of Oceanography (FIO) and the Thailand – China Joint Laboratory for Climate and Marine Ecosystemoganized a training workshop on the Species Distribution Model for Endangered Species in Surat Thani. This workshop is a part of Marine Endanger Species Research (MESR). The workshop was honored by Mrs. Sumana Khajornwatanaqul, Director of the Marine and Coastal Resources Research and Development Institute to give an opening statement. The primary goal of the event was to enhance the capacity of DMCR's staff in the data analysis of marine endangered species and the practical application of Species Distribution Models. The workshop successfully brought together a total of 35 attendees, including 26 participants from relevant research and conservation divisions.
Advancing Microplastic and Marine Debris Research in Thailand
The Thailand-China Joint Laboratory for Climate and Marine Ecosystem, in collaboration with Phuket Marine Biological Center (PMBC) Center and the First Institute of Oceanography of the People's Republic of China, hosted a hands-on training on Advancing Microplastic and Marine Debris Research in Thailand at Phuket Marine Biological Center during 13-14 May 2025. The training aims to instruct the preparation of microplastic sample from marine organism, discussion on Project Technical Cooperation on Marine Debris and Microplastic Monitoring and Research framework for next 5 years, and future direction of microplastic research around the world.
ศูนย์ปฏิบัติการวิจัยร่วมไทย-จีน ด้านสภาพภูมิอากาศ และระบบนิเวศทางทะเล จัดฝึกอบรมการใช้อากาศยานไร้คนขับแบบปีกตรึงขึ้นลงแนวดิ่ง (Vertical take-off and landing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle; VTOL UAV)
ระหว่างวันที่ 10 - 14 มิถุนายน 2567 ศูนย์ปฏิบัติการวิจัยร่วมไทย-จีน ด้านสภาพภูมิอากาศ และระบบนิเวศทางทะเล ร่วมกับศูนย์วิจัยทรัพยากรทางทะเลและชายฝั่งอ่าวไทยตอนบน (ศวทบ.) จัดฝึกอบรม “โครงการฝึกอบรมเชิงปฏิบัติการ การใช้อากาศยานไร้คนขับแบบปีกตรึงขึ้นลงแนวดิ่ง (Vertical take-off and landing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle; VTOL UAV) ในการสำรวจสัตว์ทะเลหายากและทรัพยากรทางทะเลและชายฝั่ง” ภายใต้โครงการวิจัยร่วม Marine Endangered Species Researches (MESR) โดยได้รับงบประมาณสนับสนุนจากศูนย์ปฏิบัติการวิจัยร่วมไทย-จีน ด้านสภาพภูมิอากาศและระบบนิเวศทางทะเล โดยมีวิทยากรบรรยายพร้อมฝึกปฏิบัติภาคสนามจากบริษัท ซิสทรอนิกส์ จำกัด และมีผู้เข้าร่วมอบรมฯ จากศูนย์วิจัยฯ ทั้ง 6 แห่ง จำนวน 26 คน อันเป็นการพัฒนาศักยภาพบุคลากรในการใช้เทคโนโลยีในการสำรวจและประเมินสถานภาพทรัพยากร ทรัพยากรทางทะเลและชายฝั่งที่มีอยู่เดิมให้เป็นปัจจุบันและมีคุณภาพมากขึ้น
การสัมมนาเชิงปฏิบัติการว่าด้วยความร่วมมือระหว่างไทย-จีน ด้านวิทยาศาสตร์ทางทะเลและเทคโนโลยี (ฝ่ายไทย)
วันที่ 13 - 15 พฤษภาคม 2567 กรมทรัพยากรทางทะเลและชายฝั่ง โดยสถาบันวิจัยและพัฒนาทรัพยากรทางทะเลและชายฝั่ง ได้จัดการสัมมนาเชิงปฏิบัติการว่าด้วยความร่วมมือระหว่างไทย-จีน ด้านวิทยาศาสตร์ทางทะเลและเทคโนโลยี (ฝ่ายไทย) โดย ดร. ปิ่นสักก์ สุรัสวดี อธิบดีกรมทรัพยากรทางทะเลและชายฝั่ง เป็นประธาน ณ โรงแรมเบสท์เวสเทิร์น นาดา ดอนเมือง แอร์พอร์ต กรุงเทพฯ โดยการสัมมนาฯ ในครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อติดตามผลการดำเนินงานทางวิชาการของความร่วมมือระหว่างไทย-จีน ด้านทะเล โดยผู้เข้าร่วมการสัมมนาฯ ประกอบไปด้วยคณะทำงานโครงการความร่วมมือทางวิชาการระหว่างไทย-จีน ด้านทะเล ผู้เชี่ยวชาญ ผู้อำนวยการศูนย์ นักวิจัยของกรมทรัพยากรทางทะเลและชายฝั่ง ผู้แทนและนักวิจัยจากหน่วยราชการและสถาบันการศึกษาต่าง ๆ ทั้งนี้ มีการระดมความคิดเห็น และให้ข้อแนะนำในการพัฒนาโครงการวิจัยในสาขาต่าง ๆ ซึ่งจะส่งผลประโยชน์ต่องานวิจัยและการบริหารจัดการทรัพยากรทางทะเลต่อไป
การสัมมนาเชิงปฏิบัติการความก้าวหน้าด้านวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยีทางทะเล ระหว่างไทย-จีน ด้านทะเล (ฝ่ายไทย)
วันที่ 9 มีนาคม 2566 ดร.พรศรี สุทธนารักษ์ รองอธิบดีกรมทรัพยากรทางทะเลและชายฝั่ง (รอง อทช.) เป็นประธานในพิธีเปิดการสัมมนาเชิงปฏิบัติการความก้าวหน้าด้านวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยีทางทะเล ระหว่างไทย-จีน ด้านทะเล (ฝ่ายไทย) โดยมีนางสุมนา ขจรวัฒนากุล ผู้อำนวยการสถาบันวิจัยและพัฒนาทรัพยากรทางทะเลและชายฝั่ง พร้อมด้วยผู้เชี่ยวชาญ ผู้อำนวยการศูนย์ นักวิจัย และเจ้าหน้าที่ในสังกัดกรมฯ ตลอดจน คณะทำงานโครงการความร่วมมือทางวิชาการระหว่างไทย-จีน ด้านทะเล ผู้แทนและนักวิจัยจากหน่วยงานราชการ และสถาบันการศึกษาที่ดำเนินงานด้านทะเล เข้าร่วมสัมมนา ณ โรงแรมพักพิง อิงทาง บูติค โฮเทล (ชั้น 6) จังหวัดนนทบุรี ในระหว่างวันที่ 8 - 10 มีนาคม 2566การสัมมนาเชิงปฏิบัติการในครั้งนี้ กรม ทช. จัดขึ้นเพื่อเป็นเวทีแลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็น และข้อแนะนำ จากหน่วยงานทางวิชาการต่างๆ ทั้งภายในและภายนอกกระทรวงทรัพยากรธรรมชาติและสิ่งแวดล้อม รวมทั้งสถาบันการศึกษาต่าง ๆ ที่ดำเนินงานทางด้านทะเล อีกทั้งให้นำเสนอผลงานและความก้าวหน้าในการดำเนินงานของโครงการวิจัยร่วม ที่อยู่ระหว่างการดำเนินงาน เพื่อให้นักวิจัยฝ่ายไทยมีความพร้อมในการดำเนินงานตามโครงการวิจัยต่าง ๆ ซึ่งจะส่งผลประโยชน์ต่อการบริหารจัดการทะเลไทย ต่อไป
