Organized the 15th Thailand-China Joint Workshop on Marine Science and Technology Collaboration (JW-15)

On 22–23 September 2026, the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR), in collaboration with the Ministry of Natural Resources of the People’s Republic of China, organized the 15th Thailand–China Joint Workshop on Marine Science and Technology Collaboration (JW-15) at The Bazaar Hotel Bangkok, Thailand. Mr. Ukkrit Satapoomin, Deputy Director-General of DMCR; Ms. Sumana Khajornwattana, Director of the Marine and Coastal Resources Research and Development Institute; and Professor QIAO Fangli of the First Institute of Oceanography (FIO), Ministry of Natural Resources, People’s Republic of China, served as co-chairs of the workshop. The event brought together 158 participants and featured 33 oral presentations and 40 poster presentations.

The workshop served as an important platform for exchanging knowledge, research findings, and advances in marine science and technology, while further strengthening and expanding academic cooperation between Thailand and the People’s Republic of China. At the conclusion of the workshop, key findings were summarized and highlighted, and recommendations were formulated based on the scientific discussions and exchanges. These outcomes will be presented for further consideration at the 14th Meeting of the Steering Committee of the Thailand–China Joint Laboratory.
